When a Father Loves Like God Does
Family is one of the most important aspects in my life and I have been beyond blessed to have an incredible family. While my whole family is special, my parents are extraordinary and mean so much to me. I’m lucky to be so close to my parents and to have the kind of relationship we have. Not everyone gets that. My mom is probably my best friend, my shoulder to cry on. Sometimes she is the one I call when I need to know where something is in a grocery store (sorry mom). But my dad is my hero, the one I look up to, and adore.
My hero since day one.
I can remember when I was younger I wanted to do everything he did. While I did love pretending to be a princess and playing with my friends, I also loved being outside and following him around. I even would run around outside without my shirt on to mimic him since he would cut the grass without his shirt on in the summer. It made me so happy to follow him around and do what he did.
We did it all…
Whether it was eating pizza, learning how to use a computer, or playing video games, we did it all. He was my Superman.
I love my dad because he always told me how worthy and amazing he thought I was, and he always showed me how I deserved to be loved, which was so special. He taught me so much in life that it’s hard to even describe all he has done for me.
My dad is a one of a kind, and I wanted to grow up to be just like him. He always picks me up when I’m down but also lets me learn on my own because I am equally, if not more, stubborn than he is. Overall, his impact on my life has helped me grow into someone I am proud to be.
My father also inspires me almost every single day. To brag about him a little bit, he has worked hard his entire life and has accomplished so much, and is probably one of the most humble people I know. He taught himself almost everything he knows, and turned himself into a successful business man on many occasions.
On top of personal success, he is also kind to everyone he meets, sharing a smile, and even a story or two. I’ve truly never met anyone who talks to strangers or homeless people as passionately as he does. What an incredible guy.
Not just my awesome dad, but a man of God.
On top of being just plain awesome and successful, my dad is an incredible husband to my mom too. He has as always taken care of her and loved her. He is a family man through and through, and I know he loves his family more than anything else in the world, just by his actions and words. My dad has always taken care of us and I know he always will. I strongly believe that he is the man he is because of how much he loves God. He is so passionate towards others, showing his love.
“The righteous man walks in his integrity; his children are blessed after him.” Proverbs 20:7
So after many years I’m sure, my dad is finally following his calling to make a difference in the lives of others. And it’s in KENYA!! How awesome is that?! Because I love my awesome dad and because I think it is so cool that he is doing this, I wanted to write about him, and how much I love him, to show others what I see.
My dad is going on a mission trip in early 2018 with Seacoast Church in Charleston, SC. It is super expensive, so any kind of donation will make a huge difference. You can click here to find his donation page as he pursues this great adventure God is calling him on. If you can’t donate, then prayers are absolutely appreciated too!
When a father loves the way God loves us, so many blessings can happen in life and in families. So here is to my amazing father, who loves me, believes in me, and inspires me. Here is to the man who is going to change the lives of those in Kenya. I love you dad!
